Leaders of the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism and Shas parties
have denounced Prime Minister Naftali Bennett for comments on Tuesday
at The Jerusalem Post Annual Conference that ultra-Orthodox political power should be limited.
“Israel
without the religious aspect would not be an Israel I want because we
are the Jewish state, I am happy there are haredim [ultra-Orthodox], but
we need to limit their political sway,” said Bennett as part of his
explanation of the dynamics of Israel’s politics at the moment.
He got only a few votes for his party, how is he pm? His political sway should be limited.
ReplyDeleteRemember: the Chareidi definition of Torah Judaism is their version of Torah Judaism. A Rabbanut run by the Religious Zionists would be the same as by the Reform in their eyes.
ReplyDeleteIn this area, ie the rabbanut, the chareidim should be purged, or at least reduced. Could you imagine what would happen if the RZ found a way to infiltrate the chareidi batei Din? The badatz, the agudah, bnei brak?
ReplyDeleteBlood would be shed by the hareidim. But they automatically want to dominate the rabbanut, which does not cover their own constituency.

If a court issued a decree, thinking that the majority of the
community could uphold it and after the decree was issued, the majority
of the community raised contentions and the practice did not spread
throughout the majority of the community, the decree is nullified. The
court cannot compel the people to accept it.
The above halachic statement of the Rambam is suggesting that even a Sanhedrin cannot impose a rabbinic law on an unwilling population, how much more so the Hareidi branch of Orthodoxy - using the Chief Rabbinate - on a MO or secular population?
