He and Republicans in Congress like Rep. Paul Gosar have sought to turn Babbitt into a martyr, saying she was unjustly killed and wrongly targeted by law enforcement. GOP lawmakers have cited her death to say that the insurrection wasn't as serious as it appeared and she didn't pose a threat.
George Floyd was a martyr, why not her?

ReplyDeleteEffectively lost her life to a kind of mental illness, which in her case induced her to rush a cop who was cornered with gun drawn.
He didn't die because he had a rap sheet. He died because the police officer chose stubbornly to "dig his heels in," so to speak, in contravention of a crowd of concerned citizens who dared to "tell him his job" -- i.e., that there was no need be standing on a handcuffed man's neck.
