MK Ahmad Tibi decries cuts to daycare subsidies for haredim

 https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/309483

Joining the mostly haredi voices condemning the recent decision of Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman to cancel daycare subsidies to families where the father is in full-time Torah learning, was, perhaps unexpectedly, Joint Arab List MK Ahmad Tibi.

Tibi was interviewed on Radio 103FM, where he criticized Liberman’s decision, calling it “inappropriate.”

“This decision weakens the weak even further,” he said. “I am familiar with the conditions in which these families live, and this decision should be reconsidered.”

MK Bezalel Smotrich of the Religious Zionism party also decried Liberman’s decision.

In their alliance with Bibi, the Chareidim have committed to voting against the government no matter what. So if the government does try to vote for extending the Chareidi draft exemptions, imagine the Chareidi parties votes to end them!

there are quite a number of areas where Arab and Hareidi interests merge, and it is not really to do with Zionism (except for NK nuts).
They both have large families, prefer not to do army service, don't want to be forced into university and are poorer so prefer to live on benefits.

They also dislike LGBT parades etc. The only difference, B'H , is the high murder rate amongst the Arabs is not replicated in Israel, whether secular or religious.

Is the bitachon taught in yeshivas , bitachon in Hashem, or in benefits?

  4. Bitachon in Hashem is taught in yeshivas.
Regardless of those who seek to harm them, Hashem will take care of those who trust in Him and pray to Him,
    Tehillim 32:10
    הבוטח בה' חסד יסובבנו
    Ibid. 145:19
רצון יראיו יעשה ואת שועתם ישמע ויושיעם

That being said, there is nothing wrong in protesting against a so-called "Jewish" government, that discriminates against those who study Torah, and where Torah study, is treated of less importance than so-called "higher education".

The argument about "training which will allow improved integration into the job market in the future", is a demagogic fig leaf for anti-Torah discrimination, as many who are in so-called "higher education", especially in the "liberal arts", will never be able to support themselves with jobs in their field of study.

so the bitachon in Hashem is actually a fig leaf for a bitachon in political extortion. You have to be honest here - I know it's difficult.
Bitachon is taught in a way that goes against the rationalism of the Rambam, who says it is the way of a fool to get married, then seek work, then build a house etc.

You see this as anti-torah discrimination, maybe it is, I don't know. The question is , bitachon says don't worry, the means all come from Hashem, not by effort, and not by relying on princes.

  6. The government isn't discriminating. In fact, it's the opposite. Until now Chareidim have been the beneficiaries of positive discrimination - free money! free money! Now they have to work like everyone else.

  7. Changing existing eligibility criteria for daycare subsidies, in a manner that is specifically designed to exclude subsidies given to families of yeshiva students is a form of discrimination.

  8. If you don't know whether this is anti-torah discrimination, or not, then maybe you shouldn't be commenting on this thread. It’s better to stick to subjects that you know about.

No. If the benefits are brought on par with other sectors, its not anti Torah. Do you know about those other sectors who get childcare?
