Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Bracha near Shechem, wrote in Arutz 7 on Thursday that Conservative and Reform Jews must be allowed to pray at the Ezrat Israel section of the Kotel, and the Rabbi of the Kotel must take care of all their needs, including providing them with a Torah scroll (הרב אליעזר מלמד: תפילת הרפורמים בעזרת ישראל).

  1. Another example of anti-halachic stupidity by RZ rabbis.

  2. What do you care, you don't go to the kotel anyway.

  3. When Hezekiah the King found the Torah, he wanted all of Israel, including seculars, to bring korban Pesach. Even though they did not have time to purify, he prayed for a heter, and gave it.
At the time, there was no mechitza, it was instituted in the late 2nd temple era by chazal.

  4. Thing is, even the Reformers agree that Messianic Jews aren't Jews.

  5. When did we start caring what or whether Reformers agree/disagree or think on any subject related to Judaism?

  6. Correct - that's why we don't take satmar into consideration

  7. It's unsurprising you and Reformers don't take Satmar into consideration. But the Torah world very much does take Satmar into consideration. Rav Ahron Kotler, Rav Yitzchok Hutner, the Litvish gedolim in Eretz Yisroel, the chasidish Gedolim everywhere and even the Sephardic gedolim all took the Satmar Rebbe zt'l's positions into consideration. Often they agreed and sometimes they disagreed. But even when they disagreed with him, all the aforementioned still considered him to be one of the Gedolei HaDor whose position needed to be seriously considered and analyzed.

  8. Rav Aharon? Perhaps He took the insults into consideration.
Rav Hutner's position kept shifting. He is quoted, for example, as saying rav shach's "land for peace" position was a denial of the whole Torah.
He was very much an ideological tourist - following rav kook, torah and secular studies, then becoming the opposite. So any flirtation with satmar has to be taken with a pinch of salt. On one occasion, both rav Tzvi Kook and one of the neturei karta leaders were both waiting outside the door of rav Hutner.

On the other hand, rav Henkin ztl implied that the Satmarer rebbe was a rodeif b'yisrael.

  9. Your bubbe maaisas about Rav Hutner, Rav Shach, the Satmar Rebbe and Rav Ahron don't even have a spark of emes. Did you read this in a Reform publication?
