the claims I made did not concern the murder of Joe Alon, but the testimony in that documentary that a) The IDF had given orders to deactivate the minefields on the Israeli side of the Egyptian border, and b) the opinion that Dayan and Kissinger had colluded with Egypt to stage a war , with the purpose of reaching a peace deal. The Diplomat and writer, Conor Cruise O'brien also had the same theory about Kissinger, which he arrived at independently of the people in this documentary.
So it is hard to claim that O'brien was a "crackpot" he was a very intelligent, highly respected intellectual and diplomat.
One can dispute what they say, but that does not make them crackpots.
what statements? None of the significant players have made the accusations which you are gleefully stating as "one school of thought" nor are they cited in authoritative histories of the period!

In halacha, you can muster rav Moshe or rav Shternbuch to belittle people like krauss or rackman. I don't think there is an authority in military and political history, nor are we under any pressure to accept gedolim. O'Brien was a gadol in this field himself , not a crackpot. But it is not a science or halacha, it is deciphering political and military errors.
