The Huge Cargo Ship Blocking the Suez Canal Is Now Afloat, Maritime Company Says

 https://time.com/5950702/ship-blocking-suez-canal-free/

Salvage teams freed the Ever Given in the Suez Canal, according to maritime services provider Inchcape, almost a week after the giant vessel ran aground in one of the world’s most important trade paths.

While the ship is floating again, it wasn’t immediately clear how soon the waterway would be open to traffic, or how long it will take to clear the logjam of more than 450 ships stuck, waiting and en route to the Suez that have identified it as their next destination.

  3. Among the many Roshe Yeshivot and rabbanim who respectfully referred to and/or corresponded with Ginzberg, mention should be made here of what R. Mordechai Gifter wrote to Ginzberg upon receiving a copy of the Commentary

Major distortion - he was praising his scholarship on the Yerushalmi - not the man and not his theology

  4. Such flattery would be unheard of today, or even 35 years ago, in the haredi world

“Mishnah 2. The appropriation in the chamber was made with three baskets each of [the capacity of] three se'ahs [three se'ahs equal the Biblical ephah], and on them was inscribed [respectively] [to ensure that the contents of each basket would be expended in the order in which they had been taken up.] aleph, beth, gimel. R. Ishmael says: on them was inscribed in Greek, alpha, beta, gamla [The J. Mishnah reads Gamma]. He who made the appropriation did not enter the chamber wearing either a bordered [with a border folded up at the lower end of the cloak. Aruch explains it as a cloak with sleeves. The articles of apparel enumerated may serve as a receptacle for hiding a theft from the shekels.] cloak or shoes or sandals or tefillin or an amulet, lest if he became poor people might say that he became poor because of an iniquity committed in the chamber, or if he became rich people might say that he became rich from the appropriation in the chamber. for it is a man's duty to be free of blame [i.e., to give no cause for suspicion] before men as before god, as it is said: “and the land has been subdued, at the instance of the Lord, and then you return---you shall be clear before the Lord, and before Israel; and this land shall be your holding under the Lord” (Numbers 32:22). And again it says: “Then you will find grace and good sense In the sight of God and man.” (Proverbs 3:4)
    Malbim on Proverbs 3:4
Wengrov Malbim on Mishley p. 31 “Through his own human resources of intellect, a man can achieve social recognition as possessor of “grace and good sense.” But only through contact with the Divine wisdom of the Torah can a man achieve grace “in the sight of God” and also “good sense,” which denotes the action of Divine inspiration within man, opening up to him an immediate intuitive comprehension of truth. ”
Beautiful. Yes I try to be free of blame in my court papers. SCOTUS 9 judges will cvote on my 20-6525 April 16, 2021. NYS Court of Appeals will vote on my 54-1/19/2021. As long as 54-1/19/2021 is undecided I can write to them. I wrote yesterday:
“2.New York Domestic Relations Law Sec. 253...8.Any person who knowingly submits a false sworn statement under this section shall be guilty of making an apparently sworn false statement in the first degree and shall be punished in accordance with section 210.40 of the penal law. 9.Nothing in this section shall be construed to authorize any court to inquire into or determine any ecclesiastical or religious issue. The truth of any statement submitted pursuant to this section shall not be the subject of any judicial inquiry, except as provided in subdivision eight of this section.
4.Once Susan received the Get I sent her from Israel in Rabbi Aryeh's bet din in Brooklyn, before witnesses, on 2/17/1993, I became a free man, free to remarry. Passover is the holiday of freedom. Susan's sworn statements that Judge Rigler signed an order of separation March 1995 are false.
5.NYS is a blue state and goes over-board in Progressive Left ideology to promote rights of women. I'm a 100% Trump and Netanyahu supporter. I'm trying to over-turn Susan's 30-years' court victories. I hope and pray for NYS courts to over-turn New York Domestic Relations Law Sec. 253. Susan would never have done what she did in NYS courts these 30 years were it not for the New York Domestic Relations Law Sec. 253.”

  7. That could be simply because there are no significant scholars amongst the non orthodox!
Rabbi Freifeld said you need to be a talmid chochom to be an apikorus

  8. Not sure , Rav Shach never praised these conservative scholars,. Not even modern orthodox or lubavitch scholars

  9. this is the same man who famously called Rabbi Norman Lamm a "sonneh Hashem".

  10. Rav Gifter didn't say that it was Rav Svei. So again what point are you trying so hard to make?

  11. you don't see the irony? Let me put it to you another way. there was someone else called Rabbi Lookstein, who did many good deeds, and brought many people back to Torah. On one issue he had machloket with Rav Shach, regarding his attack on Steinsalz. This is a dispute leshem shamayim, (in which I am a misnagid and not a chasid), nevertheless Rav Gifter attacked Lookstein, who was a great orthodox leader. Not oen word of praise for him. but for the Conservative, apikores, who was worse than Steinsalz, he has heaps of praise. Does the word hypocrisy come to mind?

  12. Oh in that case i retract my comments above. He did atatck YU , but used different loshon.

  13. Obviously he would disagree with your glib assessment!
Why is it so important to you to claim hypocrisy?

    ReplyDelete
  14. maybe not, maybe he would be forced to agree, were he still alive.

why - because you cannot be "open orthodox" and still be Ultra-Orthodox vanguard at the same time - although it is a question if he was still open to Conservative when he was older.

  15. It is obviously something that seriously bothers you but apparently but no one else. I wonder why?

  16. In Hilchot Deot, Rambam writes that one should not think one thing, and say another, and uses unflattering terminology for such a person.

In dictatorships, including Hareidi extremism, this is how people survive, by saying not what they think, but what they think will be acceptable to others.

Look at the post you just put up about the Limmud conference.

BTW, on this, and on previous issues, remember what the Chazon ish said about apikorsim nowadays, where moridin v'lo ma'alin no longer applies, and that we must now try to bring them back to Torah. What Rabbis Mirvis and Cardozo are trying to do is to follow this particular Chazon Ish.
