I object to it because you are wasting your time - bittul zman . I don't really care much about Trump one way or the other. Chazal say that the thought is worse than the act - and Rambam interprets this as saying the intellect is a Divine gift, it is to be used for learning and analyzing Torah and logic. So I say obsessing with this , spending 95% of your online time with Trump is worse than the act of watching an hour or 2 of TV.
