Real Trump derangement syndrome

I have to agree with Jeff Cooper — Trump Derangement Syndrome is a stupid term, mainly because it is backward.

One would expect TDS to mean the obvious: those who still believe in Trump’s lies even when they are so obvious to the casual observer.

So, now with his make-believe world in a time of coronavirus threatening the health of all of us, I have decided to coin a new phrase: Real Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I have also constructed this handy guideline to help you figure out if you may suffer from RTDS.

• You can name two lies Barack Obama told but didn’t know that The Washington Post documented more than 16,000 lies Donald Trump has told since he became president; many are repeats, even Trump can’t make up that many different lies — can he?

• When asked why you support Trump, you respond, “He tells it like it is.”

  1. That you felt a need to put up multiple posts about TDS shows its existence.

  2. nope
protesting anti semitism or anything else is logically the result of derangement. so is your obsession with trying to claim that anyone has the syndrome

  3. Here is a simple test to determine if someone has Trump Derangement Syndrome.

    1. Ask them (or yourself if you are testing yourself) if Donald Trump is President of the United States?

If the answer given is "No", this is an indication of TDS.

If the answer is "Yes", proceed to next question.

    2. Ask if Donald Trump wins the next Presidential election, will he then be President for the next four years (assuming he does not resign, is not removed from office, etc.)?

If the answer given is "No", this is an indication of TDS.

If the answer is "Yes", proceed to next question.

    3. Ask if Donald Trump's supporters, who put him in office, have the right to not be punished for voting for Donald Trump.

If the answer given is "No", this is an indication of TDS.

  5. 16,000 lies.

Let's take it as a given that in fact Donald Trump has told "16,000 lies." Lets leave aside for the moment even defining what a "lie" is, or who is qualified to determine when Donald Trump makes one.

Here are some possible inferences to draw from our assumption that Donald Trump has told 16,000 lies.

    1. In order to become President one must tell a lot of lies.

    2. In order to get re-elected to a second term as President, one must tell a lot of lies during the first term (assuming Donald Trump wins in the Fall.)

    3. Telling lies does not prevent one from becoming President.

    4. Telling lies does not prevent one from being re-elected President (assuming Donald Trump wins in the Fall.)

    5. A President telling lies leads to some political opponents obsessing over every lie. This prevents them from formulating their own coherent platform, thus giving the liar politician an advantage.

    6. Lies are useful political tools because they crowd out inconvenient facts that might detract from a President's popularity.

    7. Exposing Donald Trump's lies has the counterintuitive effect of portraying Donald Trump as powerful. After all, he becomes the center of attention. No one is interested if I lie. But the next lie that escapes Donald Trump's lips becomes fodder for the next news cycle.

    8. Exposing Donald Trump's lies has the coumterintuitive effect of portraying Donald Trump as a known quantity. Voters are notified of every lie he tells, so they know his lies. And by process of elimination they know ebverything else he says is true. So they know his truths. Conversely, they are left in the dark regarding the actual staus of other politicians' statements.

“Is it wise for him to call for a huge expansion of the federal government and a $4 trillion tax increase? To promise to repeal all the Trump tax cuts, including those for working- and middle-class families? To end the use of natural gas and coal by electric utilities? To provide illegal immigrants free health care? All so he can boast, as he did last week, that he’ll go down as “one of the most progressive” presidents in history?”

No. Look at the strategy of Moses in this week’s parsha עקב. Israel is the Promised Land: “the Lord will dislodge before you all these nations: you will dispossess nations greater and more numerous than you. Every spot on which your foot treads shall be yours; your territory shall extend from the wilderness to the Lebanon and from the River--the Euphrates--to the Western Sea [i.e., Mediterranean.].” (Deuteronomy 11:23-24).

We, Orthodox, support Moses unconditionally. Moses faced individuals who would loudly proclaim Moses a consummate liar [showing a high degree of skill and flair; complete or perfect. "Trump is a consummate liar"] and thief that sought power for himself. They called themselves fact checkers and claimed to be concerned for the truth, e.g. “Moses sent for Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab; but they said, We will not come! Is it not enough that you brought us from a land flowing with milk and honey to have us die in the wilderness, that you would also lord it over us? Even if you had brought us to a land flowing with milk and honey, and given us possession of fields and vineyards, should you gouge out those men’s eyes? We will not come! Moses was much aggrieved and he said to the Lord, Pay no regard to their oblation. I have not taken the ass of any one of them, nor have I wronged any one of them.” (Numbers 16:12-15).

The Progressive Left contrives evil: to make revolutionary changes, to raise taxes, to repeal Trump’s tax cuts, etc. The Progressive Left supports perjury in the attacks against Trump. “These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to one another, render true and perfect justice in your gates. And do not contrive evil against one another, and do not love perjury, because all those are things that I hate--declares the Lord.” (Zacharia 8:16-17).
What’s the proof Moses was right and his detractors dead wrong in every way? The Promised Land, Israel. We speak Hebrew and we fight our enemies and we build more housing, technology etc. We study the Torah of Moses.

“But Laura Loomer is a fighter. If you didn’t know her you’d think she was an Israeli. She has the spunk of an Israeli taking on forces larger and stronger than herself. And Israel is an issue she feels strongly about, not only because she is Jewish but because she sees the injustices being perpetrated against Israel by prominent members of the Democratic Party, and she is prepared to go to war against them both in public and in Congress. 27-year-old, Laura Loomer, plans to unseat the four-term Democrat incumbent, Lois Frankel, in Florida’s 21st District in order to become the youngest Representative ever elected to the United States Congress. The Democrat Party has been trending downward in its position on Israel as radical new anti-Israel members replace Democrat elders and Israel fades as flavor of the year in that party. Elliot Engel was the latest Jewish Establishment figure to fall to the new breed of radical Democrat lawmakers. Democrat veterans are loath to be seen publicly supporting Israel. They think it would come at a political or career cost. That’s how far left the party has drifted. That is why Lois Frankel, Loomer’s opponent, who also happens to be Jewish, did not come to Israel for the historic opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem. Loomer, on the other hand, did travel to Israel for the opening of the embassy.”

DT, I don’t read/watch your CNN and such posts, sorry. Sorry in the sense of feeling distress, especially through sympathy with someone else's misfortune, your misfortune that you like your CNN and such posts.

  8. “Real Trump derangement syndrome” Obsession = an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person's mind. "he was in the grip of an obsession he was powerless to resist"

“Go, eat your bread in gladness, and drink your wine in joy; for your action was long ago
approved by God [cf. 2.24–25; 3.13; 5.18].Let your clothes always be freshly washed, and your head never lack ointment. Enjoy happiness with a woman you love all the fleeting days of life that have been granted to you under the sun—all your fleeting
days. For that alone is what you can get out of life and out of the means you acquire under the sun. Whatever it is in your power to do, do with all your might. For there is no action, no reasoning, no learning, no wisdom in Sheol, where you are going.” (Ecclesiastes 9:7-10).

Here’s a wonderful Torah thought on עקב
    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/284863
“The Challenge of Greatness: Spirituality in the Land of Israel
The generation in the desert did not achieve the spiritual greatness which would allow working the land without losing spirituality. In this week’s parasha, the nation is cautioned: “Take care lest you forget the Lord your God…lest you eat and be satisfied…and your heart grow haughty and you forget the Lord your God…who led you through the wilderness… who fed you manna… and you say in your heart, my own power and the might of my own hand have made me all this wealth. Remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the power to make wealth."

From the sequence of the pesukim, it seems that the danger of attributing wealth and success to “my own power and the might of my own hand”, threatened the nation only after they arrived in the land of Israel, “a land where you will eat bread without poverty, where you will lack nothing, a land whose rocks are iron and from whose hills you can mine copper." Am Yisrael’s existence in the wilderness was supernatural; it was characterized by Hashem’s ongoing intervention and constant miracles. In many ways, this way of life was more ‘spiritual’ than the life that awaited them in the land of Israel.”
