McConnell: Impeachment trial 'diverted' attention from coronavirus crisis in China

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell suggested on Tuesday that the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump distracted the US government from the growing coronavirus crisis in China.
In an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, McConnell said that the crisis "came up while we were tied down in the impeachment trial. And I think it diverted the attention of the government, because everything, every day was all about impeachment."

  1. McConnell makes a good point. CoVID had already hit the US when the trial started. Despite what Democrats and anti-Trumpists think, there was no urgency to have the trial. Attention on both sides of the aisle should have immediately focused on the virus and stopping its spread. Instead, both sides ignored it and held their partisan wrestling match. What is most odious is that everyone knew how it would end - impeachment in the HoR and acquittal in the Senate. So not only was it a distraction, it was a completely meaningless one from the start. And now we have this to deal with.

  4. Wait, wait, and now suddenly you believe Trump? That's quite inconsistent - you repeatedly post that everything he says is a lie but now he says something you agree with and suddenly he's telling the truth?
