Nearly 180 Evangelical Leaders, Including Billy Graham's Granddaughter, Condemn Anti-Trump Editorial in Letter to Christianity Today

"The editorial you published, without any meaningful and immediate regard for dissenting points of view, not only supported the entirely-partisan, legally-dubious, and politically-motivated impeachment," the letter read, "but went even further, calling for Donald Trump not to be elected again in 2020 when he certainly survives impeachment."

"Your editorial offensively questioned the spiritual integrity and Christian witness of tens-of-millions of believers who take seriously their civic and moral obligations," it continued.

The group, who called themselves "Bible-believing Christians and patriotic Americans," went on to say that they are grateful that Trump has "sought our advice" to advance policies that "protect the unborn, promote religious freedom [and] reform our criminal justice system."

  1. Bravo “Nearly 180 Evangelical leaders, including Billy Graham's granddaughter, condemn anti-trump editorial in letter to Christianity Today”
    I agree with the letter:
“The group, who called themselves "Bible-believing Christians and patriotic Americans," went on to say that they are grateful that Trump has "sought our advice" to advance policies that "protect the unborn, promote religious freedom [and] reform our criminal justice system."...Amato said that his fellow signatories believe that "Jesus didn't judge people" like CT did to Trump in the op-ed. "Our language is truth, our law is love and when it comes to politics, we don't go around pointing the finger and judging people," he said, adding that "it's not what Christianity Today believes." “
I like the letter of the 180 Evangelical leaders, including Billy Graham's granddaughter this. I use to read Billy Graham. When Joseph was a youth of 17 the Bible says that he did go around judging people, namely his 11 brothers. Joseph repented and became perfectly righteous when in Egypt. That’s my interpretation of Joseph and his brothers in the Bible. I believe in the Messiah son of Joseph and in the Messiah son of David (from Judah): very deep and Kabalistic. I wish merry Christmas to the 180 Evangelical leaders, including Billy Graham's granddaughter. I agree with Trump’s tweet:
Trump fired back at CT on Friday morning in a tweet, where he called the publication a "far left magazine" that wants a president who would "take your religion & your guns."
Today I’m reading The Second World War by Winston Churchill, 4 volumes. I’m up to page 176 volume 1. Wow the horrors and deaths caused by the Spanish civil war p. 167: In consequence the Spanish Government, now in the hands of the most extreme revolutionaries....”

  2. Do you understand why Evangelicals and Orthodox Jews flock to Trump?
Both sides of the political spectrum are led by corrupt, lying thieves. The difference is that the left is also obsessed with destroying Chrisianity and, if it gets the chance, any form of traditional Judaism. The right couldn't care less and leave those religions alone.
Given my choice of bastard, I'll take the guy who won't one day walk into my shul and announce that I have to remove the mechitzah and make a gay trans-feline the new rabbi in the name of inclusiveness

  4. Quite accurate. You think Hillary Clinton is any more moral than Trump? Any closer to authentic Torah values? Again, you have a choice of two bad people - one will leave you alone or even support you once in a while, the other will smile at you while shining the knife to stab you in the back. Who do you support?

  5. Somehow it is better, lefi halacha, to advocate gay/trans etc education than for a President to have an informal chat with another president and ask him for a deal, to get information on his rival.

  6. Torah thought on מקץ
“And he confined them in the guardhouse for three days. On the third day Joseph said to them, Do this and you shall live, for I am a God-fearing man. If you are honest men כנים אתם, let one of you brothers be held in your place of detention, while the rest of you go and take home rations for your starving רעבון households; but you must bring me your youngest brother, that your words may be verified ויאמנו and that you may not die. And they did accordingly. They said to one another, Alas, we are being punished on account of our brother, because we looked on at his anguish צרת נפשו, yet paid no heed as he pleaded בהתחננו with us. That is why this distress הצרה has come upon us. Then Reuben spoke up and said to them, Did I not tell you, Do no wrong אל תחטאו to the boy ?בילד But you paid no heed ולא שמעתם. Now comes the reckoning for his blood וגם דמו הנה נדרש. They did not know that Joseph understood כי שמע יוסף, for there was an interpreter between him and them כי המליץ בינתם. He turned away from them and wept ויבך. But he came back to them and spoke to them; and he took Simeon from among them ויקח מאתם את שמעון and had him bound ויאסר אתו before their eyes לעיניהם.” (Genesis 42:17-24).
Hertz Chumash p. 161: ”Joseph, throughout spoke to them as the Viceroy, in Egypt. 24. And wept. He is touched to tears by their penitence and contrition.”
Penitence = the action of feeling or showing sorrow and regret for having done wrong; repentance."a public display of penitence"
Contrition = In Christianity, contrition or contriteness is repentance for sins one has committed. The remorseful person is said to be contrite. A central concept in much of Christianity, contrition is regarded as the first step, through Christ, towards reconciliation with God
My theory. Not clear at all the brothers showed penitence and contrition. Remember, Joseph spoke bad about the brothers to Jacob for which God punished Joseph. Only Reuven wanted to restore Joseph to Jacob. Reuven calls Joseph a boy אל תחטאו בילד. A mere boy goes free in a court, in Reuven’s opinion. Joseph wore his ornamented tunic: “When Joseph came up to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the ornamented tunic that he was wearing,” (Genesis 37:23). What was Joseph thinking wearing his ornamented tunic? KA, any thoughts? I say that here is room for Joseph’s penitence and contrition. God punished Joseph with 12 years in jail. Joseph knew that God punished him: “Before the years of famine came, Joseph became the father of two sons, whom Asenath daughter of Poti-phera, priest of On, bore to him. Joseph named the first-born Manasseh, meaning, God has made me forget completely my hardship and my parental home. And the second he named Ephraim, meaning, God has made me fertile in the land of my affliction.” (Genesis 41:50-52).
