The White House said Sunday that US forces in northeast Syria will move aside and clear the way for an expected Turkish assault, essentially abandoning Kurdish fighters who fought alongside American forces in the years-long battle to defeat Islamic State militants.
For months, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened to launch the military assault against Kurdish forces across the border he views as a threat to his country. US Republicans and Democrats have warned that allowing the Turkish attack could lead to a massacre of the Kurds, sending a troubling message to American allies across the globe.
TRUMP GIVES GREEN LIGHT TO TURKEY TO TAKEOVER SYRIA, DISPLACE U.S. PARTNERS

The extraordinary reversal of US policy is part of an overall series of changing US policies that have left allies of the US wondering what Washington is doing and left adversaries knowing that pressure works with Washington.

  1. He's betrayed all his allies; Saudi Arabia, Israel, the Kurds...

  2. He goes against all his security advisors and seasoned political experts, basing his decisions on his skills as a real estate mogul. Highest staff turnover in his cabinet.

  3. How did he "betray" Israel?
He recognized the Golan Heights and moved the embassy to Jerusalem which no American president was willing to do.

If Israel doesn't like what Turkey is doing in the region, Israel can send troops to combat them.

  4. It's more about Iran. Turkey is a threat to the Kurds. However, this article suggests otherwise.
The uproar has caused a climbdown by Trump.

  6. Debka is, and always has been, a fraudulent source of phony information!!! You can't rely on that website, it's a propaganda outfit that never has true stories or reporting unless they are items copied from other newswires and already reported by others.

  7. You sound like a true Gold Star Haredi,
Not only do the chilonim have to fight wars on my behalf while I sit and learn and owe them nothing (except insults of course), but even American soldiers have to die on my behalf for some military adventure in Syria because I don't prefer what the Turks are trying to do there, and I won't put my own life on the line but American soldiers damn well better or else Trump has betrayed me. Seriously?
If Israel has some military goal in Syria, why is it the US responsibility to do it for them? If Israel doesn't want to fight for that goal, they can also choose to stay home.

  8. you seen to be assuming america always fight for Israel' interests i.e.
    Jews make Americans die
In fact america is concerned primarily with its own interests and in this case had the Kurds die defeating its enemy and then trump betrayed them

  9. America is leaving the world stage, with China and Russia taking its place

  10. Huh? The whole comment that I replied to was that America "Betrayed Israel" by taking troops out of Syria. I think you need to direct your reply to THAT person, not to me. My response was that it's not a betrayal of Israel, America doesn't owe Israel to put its troops on the line for regional conflicts, and if Israel doesn't like what Turkey is doing there, then Israel can send its own military to combat them.
YOU replied by saying to me that I should volunteer. That made it sound very much like you agreed with the premise of Israel being betrayed, as if America owes it to them to have their US troops stationed in Syria rather than Israel fighting its own battles with its own military, if it wants.
Make up your mind about what argument you are making.

If America is concerned with its own interests, then taking troops out of Syria has nothing to do with Israel and it's not a betrayal of Israel.

  11. I was referring more to the lack of action on iran, after they attacked Saudi Arabia. What happened to the mutual defenve treaty with Israel that they spoke of a few weeks ago?
