DONALD TRUMP ACCUSES JEWS WHO VOTE DEMOCRAT OF 'A TOTAL LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OR GREAT DISLOYALTY'

President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused Jewish-Americans who vote for Democrats of showing "great disloyalty."

"Any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat — I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty," Trump told reporters at the White House as he discussed a Monday press conference by Democratic Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, in which they criticized Israeli leaders for barring them from entering the Mediterranean nation.

Showing a fresh willingness to play politics along religious and racial lines, President Donald Trump said Tuesday that American Jewish people who vote for Democrats show “either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.”
Trump’s claim triggered a quick uproar from critics who said the president was trading in anti-Semitic stereotypes. It came amid his ongoing feud with Democratic congresswomen Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, both Muslim.

As soon as Trump completed his interview, a storm of comments surfaced on social media and in press releases.

Halie Soifer, executive director of Jewish Democratic Council of America, called the president's remarks "yet another example of  Donald Trump continuing to weaponize and politicize antisemitism.

:At a time when antisemitic incidents have increased -- due to the president's emboldening of white nationalism -- Trump is repeating an antisemitic trope," Soifer said in a statement. "If this is about Israel, then Trump is repeating a dual loyalty claim, which is a form of antisemitism. If this is about Jews being 'loyal' to him, then Trump needs a reality check. We live in a democracy, and Jewish support for the Republican Party has been halved in the past four years."

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) likewise sharply criticized Trump's remarks.

"Enough, Mr. President," the organization tweeted. "American Jews – like all Americans – have a range of political views. Your assessment of their knowledge or loyalty, based on their party preference, is divisive, disrespectful, and unwelcome. Please stop. "

AJC's CEO, David Harris, added that "for the President to assert that Jews who vote Democratic show 'disloyalty' is outrageous. This is a free country. Jews aren’t a monolithic bloc, nor single-issue voters/ Some will vote Democratic, others Republican. As Americans, that’s their right. Please keep loyalty out of it."

Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, joined the criticism. He tweeted, "It’s unclear who the president is claiming Jews would be 'disloyal' to, but charges of disloyalty have long been used to attack Jews.

"As we’ve said before, it's possible to engage in the democratic process without these claims. It's long overdue to stop using Jews as a political football."

  3. The most pro-Israel president in memory, the only one with Jewish grandchildren, does everything he can to please the Jewish community and 99% of non-religious Jews don't just oppose him but treat him like the devil incarnate. Why wouldn't he look at the ingratitude and think "What do I need these people for?"

  4. Rav Shach used to say Israel should not anger the Americans by its military actions, since he considered us to still be in Galus. Now that we have a friendly president, the "learned helplessness" of galus longs for a President who is anti-Zionist, so as to confirm their own anti-zionist views.

  5. The President, as is his wont, is shooting from the hip.

Could it be that his point is that a Jew who supports the Democrats exhibits a lack of knowledge of Torah and is disloyal to G-d?

  6. It's more than that.
There are American Jews and there are Jewish Americans. American Jews are Jewish first and, while they are loyal American citizens, find common ground with Jews elsewhere across the world. Jewish Americans are Americans and feel more in common with Arab Americans than they do with Israeli Jews. The Jewish Americans are the target of Trump's rage.

  7. His moving the embassy was not a top desire of Israel. In fact other countries have not really followed because US hasn't rewarded countries- Guatemala and Paraguay that have moved. Paraguay moved back. Trump in Jerusalem refused to even let Israeli photographers accompany him to the Old City. Obviously, did not let Bibi accompany him. He has withdrawn from Iran treaty, but has not prevented them from upping the pace of nuclearization-wo military action likely results worse than nothing. Jury is out on Trump.

  8. RDE, anyone who can't see that the Democratic party has devolved into rank antisemitism and Israel hatred, is blind!
Tlaib and Omar represent the emergence of Corbynism in America. And just like in UK, the party is doing NOTHING to stop it and everything to coddle and empower it.

  10. funny, (in a sad way) that the most assimilated, chiloni, reform, marxist atheist , intermarried LGBT Jews are generally "Democrats" , and yet the support is coming from Hareidi Torah site which opposes even Modern Orthodox and creative solutions to Agunot (which is a feminist approach).

It is similar to the holy words of the Gaon the Or Sameach, who said those who call Berlin (chas v'shalom) Jerusalem, will cause a whirlwind.
The Democrat (and Corbyn) types don't really want Israel to be anything Holy, or the concept of Eretz Yisroel to be anything holy, they wish to cut it in half. They see the Palestinian /Muslim cause as equal to the Jewish/Zionist cause. There lies the rub. Trump is a historic figure, like Cyrus the great. Even Cyrus had his detractors, the Democrat/socialists of his day, causing trouble for the Jews.
    Sorry, not attacking RDE personally.

  11. Rav Goren once said about Rav Shach that he is a great Torah scholar, but he doesn't understand Eretz Yisrael. that is , in a nutshell, what this debate is about.

  12. It's been a trend in their party increasing in intensity for years. Obama took his enmity to Israel and Netanyahu over the line. That emboldened the haters. Remember the crowd at the DNC booing Israel and God during Obama's term? The Squad is the future of the Democrat party, and they've been morphing into this for years. The fact that ANY democrats are voting for BDS is a disaster and a dramatic change in relations with Israel which always enjoyed bipartisan support. This is just further evidence of the TREND that I'm pointing out. It's only going to get worse with more and more voting in favor of BDS.

  13. in other words your claim is based on your ruach hakodesh!

  14. In other words, your argument is the ostrich head-in-the-sand approach (aside from your attempt at ad hominem to dismiss me).
How is it ruach hakodesh for me to point out a trend that's been happening over the past 20 years? How is it ruach Hakodesh to point out this trend including its worst point yet with Tlaib and Omar elected to Congress with the Democratic party leadership doing nothing to combat their antisemitism? To avoid being in denial about the Democrat Party doesn't require ruach hakodesh, but it does need common sense and having one's eyes open.

  15. Well, if Never Trumper Juan Williams says it, then it has the status of scripture and must be true, right. Because Juan Williams is the expert on all things Jewish and Judaism.
