Fact-checking Trump's claim on cost of illegal immigration, number of immigrants here illegally

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2019/jan/28/donald-trump/fact-checking-donald-trumps-claim-cost-illegal-imm/

Our ruling
Trump said, "We are not even into February and the cost of illegal immigration so far this year is $18,959,495,168. Cost Friday was $603,331,392. There are at least 25,772,342 illegal aliens, not the 11,000,000 that have been reported for years, in our Country."
The source of Trump’s claim is unclear. We asked DHS and the White House to back Trump’s statement, but neither provided studies or any other data to support it.
Trump previously falsely claimed that the cost of illegal immigration was $250 billion a year. Even the highest annual estimates we found were significantly lower than that amount ($116 billion, after factoring in tax contributions).
Most estimates say there are around 11 million immigrants in the country illegally. A recent study from Yale University researchers said a mean number was 22.1 million, but several demographers have pointed flaws in the assumptions and findings of that study.
Without evidence from Trump or his administration to back this statement, we rate it False.

  1. Hard to estimate cost. How do you factor in deterioration of the community from MS-13? Or the impact on community use of public land when a rapist who attacked a woman there was an illegal?

Or the cost when a few more people need public assistance because jobs they would be otherwise working at are taken by illegals who are willing to work longs hours for low wages paid off the books (which also means loss of tax income)?

This article is rich. Fake news calling the President's statement false.

  3. Am I the source of Pres. Trump's statistics?

No. However, I know that he likes to use what we could call "rhetorical statistics." He's making a point, not presenting a research paper.

Do I believe everything the President says?

No. I believe he says everything for its political impact. There is a reason he is President and not so many others who would have liked to be in the Oval Office.

Am I the only one in on Pres. Trump's style of making pronouncements?

No. Tens of millions stand with me. Just this week the Democratics got all bent out of shape because someone decided to run for President as an Independent. The Dems are groaning that even losing a few votes will swing the next election decisively to Pres. Trump. Pres. Trump remains wildly popular.

How will The Wall stop MS-13?

"Experts note unaccompanied minors are vulnerable to recruitment after their arrival to the United States. In many cases, these minors are the victims of the gangs rather than perpetrators of crime.

"We rate Trump’s claim Half True."

  5. Classic Donald Trump.

Take the truth, embellish it, and use it to wield power.

He cracked the code of the American political system, hacked his way into the White House, and now rules America and leads the world. Historians will be analyzing, studying, debating, and publishing works on his Presidency for hundreds of years.
