NO MORE COVER-UP

The Moti Elon case shows once again how much work is still needed within the Orthodox community to purge sex offenders and prevent them from repeating their crimes.

  1. “But when rabbis like Druckman started to come out in his defense, he began to reemerge. Druckman’s defense continued even after Elon was convicted. In 2013, Druckman said he believed the court was mistaken in convicting Elon. “I don’t believe there is anything in his Torah lessons that is not kosher, there is no reason not to learn from him or listen to Torah lessons from him,” the rabbi told Arutz Sheva at the time.”

    “Joseph said to his brothers, I am Joseph. Is my father still well? But his brothers could not answer him, so dumfounded were they on account of him” (Genesis 45:3).

    וַיֹּאמֶר יוֹסֵף אֶל אֶחָיו אֲנִי יוֹסֵף הַעוֹד אָבִי חָי וְלֹא יָכְלוּ אֶחָיו לַעֲנוֹת אֹתוֹ כִּי נִבְהֲלוּ מִפָּנָיו:

    R. Eleazar, when he came to the [following] verse, wept: And his brethren could not answer him, for they were affrighted at his presence. Now if the rebuke of flesh and blood be such, how much more so the rebuke of the Holy One, blessed be He!
    What rebuke did the saintly Joseph do to his brothers? According to the midrash the brothers were unrepented on their selling Joseph to slavery.
    Rebuke = express sharp disapproval or criticism of (someone) because of their behavior or actions. "she had rebuked him for drinking too much" synonyms: reprimand, reproach, scold, admonish, reprove, chastise, upbraid, berate, take to task, criticize, censure;
    Where is the rebuke? Joseph asked a yes/no question, which he knew the answer to: Is my father still well?
    Yes, this is a rebuke. Now Rabbi Druckman feels the conviction of Motti Elon is not justified: “Druckman said he believed the court was mistaken in convicting Elon.”
    I support Rabbi Druckman. Joseph wanted to be the chosen one, but Judah is the chosen one…

  2. What really needs to be addressed in the Religious world is the disconnection from reality and distorted sense of self that exists in many religious people who see themselves as pure and holy and G-d's gift to the world who suppress their sexual inclinations and project them on to other people thus resulting in many false accusations. I do believe that this is probably a greater problem than the problem of sex offenders that exist in the religious world.

  3. Drukman was supporting other molestors even before elon. He was almost arrested for a previous scandal.
