Trump at NATO 'Like Watching Psychiatrists With a Disturbed Child,' Says Ralph Peters
U.S. President Donald Trump has caused much controversy following his meeting with his allies at the NATO summit in Brussels, discussing the future of NATO and the defense spending of the member states.
Lt. Colonel Ralph Peters, former strategic and military analyst for Fox News, slammed Trump in an interview on the CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360." He strongly criticized Trump's behavior saying that: "We're faced with the real, immediate and perhaps irreparable damage to this greatest of alliances, NATO." Peters continues, saying that "one thing that Trump is indisputably brilliant at is propaganda."
When talking about how the other NATO leaders dealt with Trump, he said, "It was like watching psychiatrists patiently deal with a disturbed child. Trump is not only shaming our nation, he is doing real damage to our security, to our interests and to our allies and Vladimir Putin could not be happier."Peters concluded with saying that Merkel is an "admirable leader, God knows I wish we had a leader like that ourselves, instead we have a fool for a president."
Europe is weakening itself with open border policies. Then, when the unexpected happens, U.S. is supposed to send in the cavalry.

Take some of that welfare stat money, Germany, that is used for supporting immigrant refugees and use it instead on buying weapons and training soldiers.
Stop using American taxpayer dollars to essentially fund Europe's suicide.
I voted for Donald Trump. He works for me and all Americans. He represents me. Kowtowing to European sensibilities and American liberal media watchdogs is not part of his job description.

ReplyDeleteThere is an important factor that someone living in Eretz Yisrael may not be picking up on. There is a sense in this country that we are headed towards a violent civil war.
To avert this war, the country needs to first and foremost refocus on itself. For too long the U.S.A. has played an outsized role on the international scene. Where is it written in the Constitution that it must be this way?
The outcome of WWII and the Cold War was that the U.S. was virtually the only country left standing economically and militarily whole. America took advantage of that and established itself as a world leader.
But along the way, a lot of people in this country feel they've been left behind. These people are the very ones whose ancestors' actions brought about the victories that led to American dominance.
I speak here of White men.
The use of memes is big on the Internet. One meme stands out for me from the ones I encounter on Gab.ai. Gab.ai is a free speech social media platform where it is possible to post a meme like this and not get kicked off.
The meme is composed of two pictures. One picture is a street scene showing Blacks rioting in this country, as groups of Blacks do in cities sometimes expressing some grievance or other. In the picture, some Blacks are milling around aimlessly. Some are on top of a trashed police car.
The other picture shows a street scene, also. In this scene, German soldiers are all dressed in identical uniform and holding rifles. They are marching in perfect formation.
I will paraphrase the caption, since I don't want to quote one of the words in it which is a perjorative term for "riot". Over the first picture, it says something like, "This is what happens when Blacks riot." Over the second picture, "This is what happens when Whites riot."
The meaning is plain: when Blacks reach a point where they feel they must resort to violent protest, it lasts at most a couple of days, or perhaps a week or two. The actions are not concerted, and eventually the emotion is dissipated, and order is restored.
When Whites riot, the emotion builds up for years. There is much discussion how to act. Leaders are chosen. Training for the moment of violence is intense. And so on. And when the riot finally manifests itself, it is too late for the opposition to respond.
Many Whites in America are highly resentful that policies of both Democratscand Republicans for decades have been to change the demography of this country. Whites are on the verge of becoming a minority, and probably are already in the eighteen years old and under category.
The Whites I interact with online are gearing up to change that. The election of Trump was just the first shot across the bow. There's a lot more ahead, and its going to be way more than "trashing alliances". How does trashing the Constitution strike people?
I have to be enlisted myself to care about the nation entering war?! Seems a mighty unnecessary assumption on your part. Ah, but that's where the true purpose of your argument truly gives itself away: You 'point' aggressively at your listener because you're fear-mongering. Nothing more.
ReplyDeleteThose who take other side of the question would tolerate war no more than you. The difference resides rather in opinions as to what course of action is more or less conducive to bring it about. The rest of us obviously feel Trump's foreign policy to be precipitous & provocative. Where you see sensible containment fire-fighting, we see reckless littering of flammables that may prove wildly damaging down the line.
Remember WWI was nothing other than a highly flammable state of affairs that happened to encounter a fairly small match one unfortunate morning, the early summer of Bosnia in 1914.

ReplyDeleteThe less entanglement abroad, the less possibility U.S. soldiers will get pulled into a foreign war. That was the point of my original post.
Many Americans feel their ancestors fought foreign wars in order to prevent foreign invasion of U.S. soil. And these same Americans are becoming a minority through, well, foreign invasion of American soil via immigration, both legal and illegal.
Instead of running off to other countries when conflict erupts, these Americans are content to fight the foreign invader right here in the Ol' U.S.A.
You seemed to blow-off the totality of this original comment by blithely implying it was media-inspired propaganda.
You seemed to feel the U.S. should remain squarely in NATO, which would seem to mean that the U.S. gets dragged into the civil conflict looming over there in Europe.
I inquired if you would like to take the place of the young White men who would rather not be sent overseas to fight someone else's fight.
No, my point was clear, and your argument so wildly simplistic I wouldn't know where to begin (coincidentally, not unlike "media-inspired propaganda," now that you mention it).

I hope you do understand that those same "Americans" who think their country is being "invaded" by "foreigners" would have classified the great-grandparents of all of us in the same manner. Even more so, their very own great-grandparents, if they were Irish, Italian, etc. were classified as dangerous invading foreigners looking to corrupt "Americans" by the people living in America back then.

ReplyDeleteWhy are you assuming that? Was the failure to stem the arrival of Jewish immigrants in the 10's and 20's a recipe for disaster? Or the Irish and Italians in the 1880's and 1890's?

ReplyDeleteA number of Jews in America are actively pushing a progressive liberal agenda. The Whites I deal with chafe at this agenda, and are getting the brunt of the downside of it: they are deplatformed from social media, doxed, and lose access to much of the financial system.
They perceive the Jews as joining with the new immigrants and with other groups and ganging up on the Whites. You know, "Let us act wisely...."
If by "deplatformed from social media" you mean that they violate the user terms of service re. hate speech and harassment, then they should be "deplatformed." If by "doxxed" you mean that people that march in alt-white neo-Nazi rallies are having their identities publicized, then I am all for it. And "lose access to the financial system"? What are these people smoking?
ReplyDeleteWhat are YOU questioning? Some of them have online companies. And they've lost access to many of the popular and easily accessible "gateways" that allow the processing of credit cards. PayPal. Stripe. And so on.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens when you start labeling their speech as violence, and take away their ability to engage with others in the "digital" town square, is two things.
(1) They begin plotting their rise to power.
(2) They make a note to themselves of how to treat the opposition when the tables are turned.
You ought to read at least pertinent excerpts from Mein Kampf sometime. These people do.
So at this juncture, it behooves me to note, you make some sense. Understanding the thinking of the Other -- their vocabulary, their logic, their perception of themselves & their needs -- is productive & often illuminating to treat as a working principle. Almost without fail helps us to get at the truth, to perceive the balance of alternate possibilities, to separate out exaggerations of gossip/panic from underlying substance, and even to clarify our own potential shortcomings. Ultimately, stands to be a chiyyuv for us, more so than espousing some "right" opinion.

However one may feel about it, it does rank as one of the most influential works of the modern age, and has remained a best-seller pretty much every decade since its publication. To ignore it is to walk amidst the West with blinders.
