R. Baruch Simon has just concluded an 11 part series on Kiddushei Taus. Without mentioning the Epstein case by name, the last ten minutes of the final shiur are clearly directed against the heter:
Harav Simon did not explain the sevaras of Rav Soloveichik as to why chazakas are immutable and why the Rama says they are. He also did not validate nor invalidate the claim of the Miami Rov who also uses the proliferation of Gittin as a reason to invalidate. Chazal . But both the Rama and Rav Stern concur that times change, ergo the unmentionable heter gains validity ,not loses validity.
Unless Rav Moshe simply wrote about the greatness of the author and not about the book, it would seem that he also argues with "rational Judaism's" cult leader.
Presumably Slifkin in thinks he is rational and Gedolei Torah are not. As I recall, Slifkin said that while Rav Moshe Shapiro knows more Torah than he (Slifkin) does, he (Slifkin) knows more about certain sciences than does Rav Moshe ZTL. He also defended Michael Broyde when Rav Shlomo Miller said Broyde was a mezayef regarding women covering their hair.
