Trump's candidacy - despite being the choice of Daas Torah in America - is heading to total self-destruction

In an acceleration of revelations about intolerable crude and insulting remarks about others - especially women, Trump's candidacy is heading to a total melt down. Republican leaders are increasing disassociating themselves from him and withdrawing support - one month before elections. Even his wife has publicly stated that his comments are offensive - but she forgives him.

Up until now it was simply holding one's nose and voting for the least despicable candidate. However it has become obvious that Trump not only is not a fit candidate for president but is truly a disgusting and pitiful human being whose only concern in life is himself and pleasure.

American gedolim who have stated that Trump is best for the Jews, hopefully will reconsider and not support someone who is a complete moral degenerate. There can not be any advantage for Jews to associate with an individual who is so completely clueless as to what a human being is.

Donald Trump’s Lewd Comments Leave the GOP Scrambling

A day after Donald Trump’s vulgar boasts of groping women surfaced in a stunning video, Republican officials privately urged candidates to sever ties with the party’s presidential nominee to limit damage down the ballot, while a cascade of congressmen and women asked him to end his campaign and let running mate Mike Pence carry the party’s tattered flag into November.

The chorus of calls for the presidential nominee to take the unprecedented step of dropping out a month before Election Day reflected a growing sense that the GOP’s best hope of maintaining its congressional majorities was to cut Trump loose. But if distance was the new decree, Trump was having none of it. In multiple phone interviews, the beleaguered businessman insisted he would not quit the race. “The media and establishment want me out of the race so badly,” he tweeted Saturday afternoon. “I WILL NEVER DROP OUT OF THE RACE, WILL NEVER LET MY SUPPORTERS DOWN!”[...]

When Trump was disinvited from a Saturday campaign event in Milwaukee by House Speaker Paul Ryan, the businessman asked Pence to attend in his stead. But Pence decided he could not defend Trump and chose not to go. Holed up with his own political advisers on Saturday, he issued a harsh rebuke of his running mate. “I do not condone his remarks and cannot defend them,” Pence said in a statement that was not written on campaign letterhead. “I am grateful that he has expressed remorse and apologized to the American people. We pray for his family and look forward to the opportunity he has to show what is in his heart when he goes before the nation tomorrow night.”[...]

But the avalanche of elected officials breaking with Trump on Saturday suggested that down the ticket, the party has made its choice. “Distancing is no longer a calculation,” says one major fundraiser for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. “It is the official Republican policy.”

It was no accident that vulnerable Senate Republican incumbents like New Hampshire’s Kelly Ayotte and Senate hopefuls like Nevada’s Joe Heck were among the first to say they could no longer support Trump. GOP strategists said Saturday that the party’s Senate majority could still be saved. “The presidential race is operating in an alternate universe this cycle,” says Scott Reed, chief strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which is spending heavily to re-elect Senate Republicans.

Within that alternate universe, a remarkable 24-hour period left Clinton’s campaign glowing and senior aides to the Trump campaign reconsidering their choices. One of Trump’s most loyal advisers couldn’t promise this was the last they’d see of crass comments. “Once you flush the toilet, you can’t really stop the water,” this adviser said. It suddenly seemed like the whole party might be headed down the tubes with Trump.

  1. 1) Why do you think Hillary is any more moral? Hillary herself fooled around with Vince Foster- the guy whose office she raided just after he supposedly committed "suicide".

    2) Is Bill Clinton any moral than Trump?

    3) Linden B. Johnston gave his interviews live, while sitting in the bathroom. Is that not disgusting?

    4) Which American respectable rabbis have indorsed Trump?

    5) Are the lives of 6 million of our brethren living in the Land of Israel not of primary importance?

  2. How come daas torah did not properly investigate trump before recommending him? This video is nothing but a further piece in a pattern that was all to obvious even before...

    ReplyDelete
  3. He was investigated but it was felt that he would still provide greater benefits to the Jewish community and as long as he was a viable candidate he should be supported.

  4. There are public and private aspects of a candidate. As long as the public person is viewed as acceptible - that which is done in private is ignored. Trump's private personality has merged with his public one and therefore there is not a fig leaf left to pretend that he has a sense of morality.

  5. I don't understand this answer. What's the moral difference between a pig or a pig'a enabler. Bill Clinton would never have gotten away with harassing girls half his age without his wife's help.

If you were supporting Gary Johnson or Jill Stein then this would make sense since neither has been accused of rape, harassment or enabling.

I think it was a video which the Democrats released just now, for good timing. Furthermore, I have heard those comments before, to boot. If We expected him to be a rebbe or rosh yeshiva, I would agree. Any goy, especially with power, would make such comments in private that he'd be embarrassed to make in public. He simply has enemies who can't stand him. What he says pales in significance to what Bill Clinton DID. Also, Hillary Clinton's first case as a lawyer was to defend a child rapist and continued defending her husband in all scandals, putting down his victims. .

    ReplyDelete
  7. This is nothing new. Everyone knew Trump was a boor. I have heard stories of well-respected athletes, actors and politicians that were far worse. So why when Bill Clinton's wife knew he was a rapist, why didn't she prevent him from becoming president? When it comes to the choice between a boor who talks like a gutter but didn't go beyond talk and one who empowered a disgusting rapist who carried on an affair with his Vice-President's daughter, I'll take the gutter talker.

  8. 1) The Gedolim have NOT voiced support for Trump.

    2) Bill Clinton, whom Hillary has stood by for decades and she has publicly and viciously denounced Bill's victims for coming out against Bill's sexually wronging them, is far far worse than Trump.

  11. I’m a Trump supporter. I like Trump’s apology. This is my recommendation to Mendel Epstein et al and Shimen Liebowitz et al to do similar to Trump’s apology - --- to say all puffery and exaggeration --- they regret their words, they regret what they did, they’re changed now and they beg mercy from the court.
    Seriously, see http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/19591:
“All this makes it seem that the Aleppo bombings are the straw that broke the American camel's back, one step too many for Russia, one that Americans cannot take lying down as Obama's presidency draws to a close for two main reasons: One, that Obama refuses to let his watch end with the American flag taken down in the Middle East and the area turning into a Russian sphere of influence. This would make America seem like a loser banished from the region with its tail between its legs. The Americans may not want to fight, but they also know what it means to be humiliated and want to avoid that with all their might. The second reason is the coming elections: Obama and Clinton realize that an American defeat in the Middle East will put the Democratic administration, Obama's today and Clinton's if she is elected, in a terrible position when facing voters, who also do not want to engage in war but do not agree to be humiliatingly removed from another region - in addition to Ukraine, where Putin simply took over. An obvious humiliation might even lead to a Republican victory.”

  12. In your general approach to child molesting you don't seem to believe that you're ok unless you're caught, but here you say something basically to that effect.

Let me paraphrase the way simple people like me interpret your stance.

The bottom line is if you're smooth and slick, like the Clinton's, it doesn't matter if your actions are far worse than the less slick and thereby naturally more transparent choice. Public presentation is most important. So if Hillary committed crimes that she should be incarcerated for, that doesn't matter, because at the end her presentation helps her get away with it, so the public doesn't see her evil, so then it's fine.

Really it's most important to be politically correct. Dance around words and don't call a spade a spade because sometimes words aren't nice. Actions are also sometime not so nice but if you don't say it then you haven't mixed your public image with what you do in private. Do what you want but say the right words.

If you say that, then you have no business criticizing RSK. He is exemplary in shmiras halashon, and he cares about agunos, and all Jews in general, and speaks out against any and all sin.

  13. Was JFK or Johnson or Bill Clinton any more moral than Trump?,bottom line is- this pathological liar and criminal extreme leftist witch will destroy this once great country of ours, this criminaly insane suicidal self hating leftist MACHSHAIFAH has openly stated that she will not protect our borders, will bring in millions more of America and Jew hating Muslim refugees,if this witch is God forbid elected in a few years the U.S will find itself in the same terrible position as Europe is right now.Besides the fact that her closest associate and advisor for the last 20 years is a former memmber of the Muslim brotherhood.
For you to criticize the Rabbonim for endorsing Trump is absolutely mind boggling ,any Jew not voting for Trump is either insane or is suicidal and we don't need the Rabbonim to tell us that

  17. All this is fascinating to watch from outside the USA.
Trump is clearly not a serious candidate. A known friend of the Clintons and a former associate in business with them, he is facing huge debts, especially after being fired from his reality show, the last reliable income source he had. Hillary has money and two simple goals: become president, destroy the Republican party.
Suddenly, after a lifetime of being a registered Democrat, with a son-in-law whose family is Democrat royalty, he shows up as a Republican candidate for president.
He runs an outrageous campaign. If you made a movie with a character like his doing what he's doing you'd get people calling it an outlandish, impossible comedy, yet no matter how low he stoops - racism, jingoism, insulting parents of fallen soldiers, sexist comments - he continues to remain competitive in most national polls. He should have 10% support - the same percentage of Americans that believe Elvis is alive - but he remains within striking distance of Hillary.
He's in this to lose. Having failed to outrage supporters into abandoning him so far, he arranges to have this old tape released. It's like if a tape of Hillary arranging another sexual conquest for her husband while he was president or governor suddenly appeared, but it won't because she probably had the guy who has the tape killed. Now, suddenly the Republicans are scrambling to dissociate themselves. Their numbers are dropping.
If you see this as a grand Clinton manipulation, everything that has happened in this campaign makes perfect sense. The American people have again been taken for suckers to satisfy a career opportunist and manipulatrix (third election in a row!).
My prediction is if this latest revelation doesn't tank his numbers, he will drop out of the race with 1-2 weeks to go while announcing he doesn't really want the tzurus of being president.

  18. Why are you emptying your garbage can into this discussion without bother checking whether the contents are accurate or relevant?

Bill Clinton is not running for president. Hillary Clinton was assigned to defend a child rapist - see latest post - but so what? Defending her husband and putting down the victim is so vague that it is meaningless .

Bottom line - you are taking Trump's position that his best defense is to slander Clinton and her husband with vague or false or highly distorted claims

  19. 1) what does fool around mean? what does this have to do with Trumps many comments that his fellow Republicans are running from?

    2) Bill is not running for president - though Trump seems to think he is

    3) Johnson - now you are really stretching. Trump is in a different league

    4) I was told that Rav Kaminetsky has said Trump should be supported

  23. He only said he didn't endorse a candidate. Having an opinion that Trump is the lesser of the two evils and being of the opinion that Trump will be better for Israel and the Jews than Clinton, is a reasonable opinion shared by many, and likely a majority, of Orthodox Jews.

We're not electing Bill? We'll, he, Kennedy and FDR were more vulgar in what they did, as opposed to what he just said, give him a chance!
I'm taking Trump's position using slander? Perhaps there is more to slander .....
We're not here to elect a clergyman, but somesomeone who is most fit for the job. ..

  30. I was told that there are gedolim in America that prefer Trump

    ReplyDelete
  31. "Prefer" is, indeed, correct. Preferred as the lesser of the two evils; not as a saint. And it isn't just gedolim; most Orthodox Jewish Americans, according to every poll taken, "prefer" him over her, even without the impetus of gedolim. Even more Modern Orthodox Jews polled prefer him over her. Including at YU.

The question is who is more evil. Most Orthodox Jews believe it is she.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Certainly not b/c they are suddenly offended by him. They are fence-sitters who are calculating their chances, and they have now decided that this way would work better for them. If things change, they will too. It's a dirty game, politics.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1) There are many, many people who think that Bill was not the only one who was unfaithful in his marriage; they believe that Hillary was unfaithful and that the person that she was unfair with was Vince Foster. Many people believe that the Clintons had Foster murdered.

    2) Hillary Clinton would not be anywhere near being considered a presidential candidate if not for Bill Clinton. She is riding on his coattails and cannot be separated from his behavior s, especially since she never seriously condemned them.

    3) I don't see why Johnson's behavior was not boorish and unpresidential. Same with JFK. BTW, who had Marilyn Monroe murdered?

Trump may not be running against LBJ and JFK, but the boorish behavior of both of these has not deleted their presidency.

    4) I believe that. The American Yated has also been a staunchly pro-republican paper for many years - since RSK filled in for Rav Elya Svei as the rabbinic influence of the paper....

Many have criticized their stance as dangerous. But why is what RSK has said or indicated privately considered Daas Torah in America?? The Agudah made sure to have representatives attend both parties national conventions.

    5) Trump's mouth is a loose cannon - but it has it's limits in big decisions. He needs many other people's help, and their is no reason to believe that he will be able to shrewdly pressure his cabinet, congress and the Senate to follow his silly impulses.

On the other hand, Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton managed to pressure their staff, congress and the senate into allowing through some of their dangerous policies. For one the Iran deal and their huge ransom payment to Iran. The problematic ideologies and political positions of Hillary Clinton are a lot more problematic because they are calculated and she is so shrewd in getting them complimented at all costs.

  34. we don't have a faith based judicial system nor do we have witch hunts based on unproven conspiracy theories.

Either provide the evidence or stop repeating the allegations.

Also your faith the Trump's irrationality will be controlled by the system - is simply wishful thinking. Why do you think that he can't pull off what Obama has?

In sum, what you are presenting as serious ideas are more like irrational faith than rational thought. I don't share your faith in Trump or your belief that the damage he can do has natural bounds.

Please show me three cases where Trump made an irrational concrete decision, as opposed to where he carelessly ran his mouth off? He does run his mouth off, but that is different that calculated destruction of people who may get into your way.

    ReplyDelete
  39. please explain the difference between a concret decison and running his mouth off? Most of Trump's decision seem to be gut reactions to things rather than decision made by weighting the pluses and minuses. That is a large part of his problem. It is clear that often these gut reactions are clearly not in his best interests - something Barbara Tuchman would describe as foolish. Don't know why anyone would want a foolish president

    ReplyDelete
  40. Because there is a big difference between his words and his actions. As a businessman, he is careful in his actual decisions - which is why the system of a cabinet, Congress and the Senate will control his impulsive actions.
But in his marketing, it is his big and uncontrolled mouth that has gotten him places. Had he had a controlled mouth, he never would have been even a primary candidate. He got where he did because many average Americans are rebelling against the speech and thought police and the corrupt political system. People feel that free choice and safety are under attack.

Quite a few people prefer a foolish president - who won't be shrewd in getting what he wants at all costs - over a potential president who is willing to sell out the country for her own gains, and actually has the shrewd ability to do so.

    ReplyDelete
  41. how do you know he is careful in his decisions? A billion dollar loss is the result of his careful thinking? I agree with you that many people want a foolish president - but history has recorded a number of disasters when people chose a fool who promised things he couldn't deliver

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just as he's lost that much, he's made even more. For many years he has a system for how decisions are made in his corporations, which prevent his impulsive reactions from destroying his businesses.
Most people do not believe that he will deliver all his grandiose campaign promises. But other than for her core base of activists who dislike this country and what it stands for, Clinton will clearly continue to make it difficult for the middle class and not deliver for them.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Unless you have seen his tax returns, there is no factual basis for your statement that he has made billions of dollars. We know that from his word alone, and you can take that for what it is worth.
