Rivky Stein & Yoel Weiss:The Jewish Press withdraws its support for Rivky Stein's "beit din"

Update by RaP August 1:

It can now be confirmed that The Jewish Press was NOT making a mistake when it withdrew the name of Yoel Weiss from its "seruv listing" column on its previous "Family Issues" page. The latest Friday, August 1st, 2014 edition of The Jewish Press on Page F1, has once again NOT published the name of Yoel Weiss on its "SERUV LISTING" confirming last week's report that they had therefore withdrawn their recognition of Rivky Stein's "Beit Din Zedek of Marine Park and Mill Basin" that presumably they too have concluded is either a fraudulent set-up or does not exist, or both! It remains to be seen if The Jewish Press will issue an explanation and hopefully an apology to Yoel Weiss and his family that has been shamed needlessly and admit it was duped by Rivky Stein and by whoever sent them the name of the fake "beit din"!

Guest post by RaP

Rivky Stein loses credibility by the day. The pro-Aguna organization ORA has disassociated itself from Rivky Stein's "beit din" then conflicting posts have stated that, first on Rivky Stein's page that her self-appointed "beit din" address is at "72nd" (also happens to be the same street address as a Chabad house there) while someone on this blog has stated that they have called that Chabad house and they deny a connection with any "beit din" on its premises! Truly mystifying self-contradicting information that awaits further clarification!

Now comes The Jewish Press which for many weeks has added the name of Yoel Weiss to its "SERUV LISTING" -- that is up until the Friday 18 July, 2014 edition (page F1), while the latest edition of The Jewish Press, the Friday July 25, 2014 edition (page F1) has DROPPED the name of Yoel Weiss from that same "SERUV LISTING" column! Why?

What was it that has made The Jewish Press do that? After all, they have been at the forefront of fighting for the rights of Agunas against recalcitrant husbands for decades, essentially pioneering the use of Jewish media as a weapon to publicly shame and thereby force stubborn husbands into coming to genuine batei din and giving their wives a get.

The Jewish Press does not mince words. Every week, on its "F1" "FAMILY PAGE, Naomi Mauer and Shandee Fuchs, Editors" starts with a "warning": "Attention Readers! this section contains sensitive topics and should be monitored"

and continues:

"SERUV LISTING

The names below are Mesarev Ledin or have been Harkhakot D'Rabbeinu Tam [sic].

A Beth Din has issued a seruv against each person listed below for a) withholding a Get upon being order [sic] to grant one, b) refusing to appear before a Beth Din in matters pertaining to a Get, or C) otherwise failing to follow the order of a Beth Din in matters pertaining to a Get. For the Halachot [sic] regarding how one should treat a person who is Mesarev Ledin, please consult a competent Orthodox [sic] rabbi."

[then in the July 18th, 2014 edition it lists nine names and the batei din that are dealing with them. At the bottom of the lists it states:]

"YOEL WEISS of Brooklyn, New York, issued by Beit Din Zedek of Marine Park and Mill Basin, March 2014"

However, the latest July 25, 2014 edition of The Jewish Press DROPS that last name and there is absolutely no mention of either "Yoel Weiss" or the so-called "Beit Din Zedek of Marine Park and Mill Basin"!!

What does that mean? Is The Jewish Press now also making a "typological error" and inadvertently leaving out that information that it has been posting for a while now? Of course, waiting another week will tell if that was a "mistake" of if now even a famous pro-Aguna advocate like The Jewish Press has added its tacit admission of being fooled and duped by printing things based on falsified information by retracting the mention of the name "Yoel Weiss" and of a "beit din" and its actions that does not exist in the real world. If so, will The Jewish Press also issue an explanation as well as an apology? Hopefully!

Stay tuned, time will tell, and it will not all that long either!

  1. The fake "seruv" listing against Yoel Weiss is just the latest halachic fraud committed over the years by the anti-male feminists operating the Jewish Press. Over the years there have been many utterly bogus "seruvim" published in the Jewish Press, almost always against Jewish men in divorce conflicts. Even if the names and/or addresses on these "seruvim" may be valid (unlike the Weiss "seruv"), there is usually no halachic justification for these "seruvim".

In many of those cases the man's wife was operating in archaos against halacha, refusing to present her case in a kosher Beis Din, while jailing her husband and/or preventing him from seeing his children. By any halachic measure the "seruv" should have been issued against the wife instead. But due to the widespread anti-male feminist mentality in the Orthodox communities today, Jewish husbands in divorce conflicts are routinely persecuted and defamed, and it is VERY rare that the Jewish Press or other Orthodox media will publish a seruv listing against a Jewish woman.

  2. Has the Jewish Press apologized for perpetrating the fraudulent listing against Yoeli Weiss thereby causing him public humiliation by their rag?

    ReplyDelete
  3. The question is: When are we going to start seeing the public apologies?

    ReplyDelete
  4. The legal disclaimer before the "seruv listings" specifically states seruvim against men, not against women. They will not publish a seruv against a woman. (They once did, but that was a farsi woman, and they obviously assumed the farsi name was a man. They dropped the listing as soon as they realized their error.)

  5. It is not just the jewish press. it is the Aguda as well. The Aguda does not believe there is an issur arko'oys at all. Ask them for help in a divorce where the woman is in arko'oys and they couldn't care less.

Agudah's archivist has a cheirem against him as well as various family members for refusing to attend multiple botei din and litigating in arko'oys shelo k'din with no hetter from any bais din whatsoever. And Moe can deny this all he likes. These are the facts. Please phone Rav Gestetner f you don't believe me. Even Mendel Epstein put a siruv on a family member. And lest this post gets deleted because its not about yoelli weiss, Its about the Jewish press and TruthJew's comments about the pervasive anti halachic attitude of American orthodox Jews. There are multiple posts about Yoelli Weiss.

  6. I don't know what's up with the Aguda archivist, but whether he watches TV, has a cheirem or eats in McDonald's, but his activities are not representative of the Aguda any more than the Aguda secretary who answers the Aguda phone calls is representative in her personal life of the Aguda.

If you hire someone, that guy's activities don't represent you.

naomi Mauer has a personal agenda against men since she brandished herself as an Aguna when her ex-husband didnt give her a "GET On Demand"

  8. Yoel Weiss is in an industry which advertises extensively in the Jewish press. They made a simple cost benefit analysis, and decided to stop a listing which affects their advertising income.

Also, no one says they think the bet din is invalid. They just made a decision that its not worth their trouble (and possible RICO liability.)

What about other mens fake seiruvim? There are other men like meir Kin who were given fake seiruvin without due process? the latest seiruv against meir Kin was signed by 2 rabbis from 1 city and herschel schachter from another and with no address or phone number on the seiruv? Additionally he was not sent hazmonos prior to this seiruv? Is it fair to condenm a man under such circumstances? I also want to suggest that if Rivky stein committed fraud, then she stole all those monies that were raised on her facebook page. I believe that the whole Bais Din system has to be revised in such a way that it ensures a GET to the woman but at the same time it affords a man equal rights to his children and protects him from incessant prosecution in the civil courts after the delivery of a GET. Once the rabbis establish a fair and balanced system can we begin to see both sides wanting to cooperate in matters of Divorce. Until that happens, we will see a repeat of these type of divorce scenarios! There is a total Bais Din breakdown because of distrust fromboth genders!

  11. Moe that is a load of baloney. The halocho says clearly that if there is a cheirem on someone, there is appropriate action to take. if the guy's wife never covered her hair or walked around in mini skirts, they would not employ him. You are just covering up. And frankly its sickening.

    ReplyDelete
  12. "If you hire someone, that guy's personal activities don't represent you." Ever heard of chilul hashem Moe?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, so do you think this "bet din" is valid?

They made a simple cost benefit analysis, and decided to stop a listing which affects their advertising income.

Wow. How is it that they didn't think of making this analysis until now - now that this is a fictitious "beit din" has come to light? Hmmm.

Do you know Uzi Frankel personally? Do you know why he was a Get Refuser for fourteen years?

Would any of Rivky's facebook supporters/Lynch-mob support her if they knew her campaign was being run by Uzi Frankel, the unrepentant Get Refuser??

I called Uzi to ask him about his "beit din". All he could tell me is that he's "rabbi Frankel", not Uzi. Which legitimate rabbi speaks this way?! Which legitimate rabbi concocts a fictitious "beit din" to get his way, and as a pretext to make a private matter public?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Sir,

Who is the Cherem from? Which beit din wrote it? Was the "beit din of mill basin and marine park", was "beit din orchos mishpot", or was it the Meir Kin siruv beis din??

If a cherem is issued against someone, then his employer may have to fire him. There is one caveat - it has to be from a legitimate Beis DIn who follows halacha.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The cherem was written by Givas Hamorah who dont take any money for dinei torah and is the only bais din in Brooklyn which I am aware of which takes no money. And they follow din not peshoro and dont let you speak with the dayonim prior to any din torah.

  16. Moe's cover-up of the Agudah's violations of halocho while disgraceful is not surprising. The victims of the archivist and his family is an immigrant family, now poverty stricken and completely financially destroyed by the mesirah made up of falsehoodsand. however this is of no importance to the big shots of the Agudah who only mix and socialize with the very wealthy.

Moe like the Agudah has no concept of "uviarto horo mikrbecho", no concept of the fact that kol yisroel areivim ze lo ze and the fact that Torah has mercy on the money of yidden.

He also has no concept of the Oruch Hashulchan who paskens in Choshen Mishpot Shin Pe Ches, Yud tes that the tzibbur is mechayev to pay for the expenses of the victim of mesirah. Look it up Moe!

No wonder we are in golus and no wonder we "look forward" to yet another Tisha B'Av. This is because the alleged frummest of the frum completely ignore many parts of yiddishkeit which are not ritualistic in nature but the opposite - require one to actually care about someone else and his pain and suffering and require eradication of evil and corruption.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I did not say this bet din is valid. Of course it isn't. Its a made up bet din, that yoel never agreed to. And that probably never sent hazmanot, or otherwise spoke to him. Assuming there's someone (other than uzi to speak to.)

They never made a cost benefit analysis til now, cause they decided a long time ago to print these real and fictitious seruvim. However, when it affects their advertising income, a new analysis must be made.

Moe respectfully you are not being honest by claiming " took no position about that situation." You very much did take a stand. As for your claims about Epstein:

    1) Epstein often was a turncoat against the men he represented.

    2) if it was only Epstein, you would have a point. What about the other 2 fully fledged charomoim and hasroas siruvim placed on the chief protagonist of this conflict. And what about another warning from a 4th bais din and a hazomon from a 5th bais din ignored?

Bottom line:If the Aguda can cover up child molestation for decades, it is capable of anything!

Also moe here are your words "Get a grip, stan. I have no idea about this situation" If you have no idea of a situation why were covering up for the Aguda?

Uzi and i go back years, but since i moved out of boro park / flatbush, I've rarely seen him.

I do know both sides of his ex wife's extortion if him. Her father refused any and all discussion of negotiating a settlement. Unfortunately, this is pretty common in contentious divorces (often making the divorce even more contentious.) In fact, a few weeks after the ex wife's father passed away, the case was settled as far as the ex wife was concerned (uzi already remarried and had a toddler age son by then.) I did business with the father, and he was gery tough to do business with.

  26. I saw it in an old pardes journal early 1960s. Letter to editor, not rav yaakov k.

Regarding JP, that was another case of father in law that would not agree to a negotiation, no settlement, no nothing. The ex husband in that case was entitled to a partnership interesting in the newspaper. However, the father in law did not want partners, which the ex husband was entitled to undber NYS divorce law. The alternative was for the f-i-l to buy him out, which he refused to do. So he had the law changed (nys can do that; the jewish guy from lower east side). So now we have the second get law, to make other get troubles. Courtesy of the f-i-l and his stubbornness.

  51. She better remember that it is conditioned on the same three "dayanim" who allegedly SIGNED the hazmana and the "psak" being at the Chabad House the day after Tisha B'Av. And the three better be prepared to positively identify themselves as being the same three signatories with valid photo ID. And the three better be prepared to prove they are in fact qualified to be dayanim and are practicing dayanim.

If she comes Aug. 6 without meeting those conditions, as per her husband's earlier comments, she will not be receiving the Get that day until she produces the same valid signatory "dayanim".

    ReplyDelete
  62. I've heard on good authority that Stein and her cohorts will be showing
up tomorrow to the place, supposedly with her three beit din dayanim, to
receive a Get from her husband.

    Yoeli should make doubly sure
the three dayanim that come can clearly confirm they are the same three
dayanim that signed everything until now. Otherwise he shouldn't be
giving a Get, as he clearly said they must be the three same folks whose
    names appear on the signatures.

  63. Rivky Stein has posted the following statement, about an hour ago, on her facebook page:

    https://www.facebook.com/RedeemRivky/posts/479075615528088

"Today is a day of great mourning for the Jewish people. May tomorrow be a day of great celebration!

Friends and supporters of Rivky: It is appropriate that immediately following Tisha B'Av, we are asking you to join us at a small, but important gathering at 1278 E 72nd Street in Brooklyn, which is the Beit Din of Mill Basin and Marine Park where Yoel Weiss agreed to show up for the intention of giving Rivky Stein, his estranged wife, a Get.

Please plan to be there by 11:45 AM. We have convened a gathering of rabbis. Yoel has boasted that he will provide the Get. We say: Bring it On.

Yoel Weiss: Be a Mensch. Give your wife a Get, with no strings attached.

May we be privileged to witness this event."

The language seems clear that she is admitting the "beit din" "dayanim" were fake and that she is now "convening a gathering of rabbis" who are not the signors of the so-called beit din documents supposedly sent to Yoeli. This is a complete disregard of Yoelis offer made right from the get-go. It has to be the same beit din dayanim showing they are real and this wasn't a farce by Rivky Stein and her cohorts. Suddenly in her new statement she is demanding that Yoeli drop the condition this was always based on.

Stein's above statement is also soliciting as many people to show up to that address to support her. I think it is vital for Yoeli to also bring a large contingent supporting him there tomorrow (with recording
    equipment.)
