Alan Dershowitz: Friends Seminary & Anti-Semitism

The Friends Seminary of New York, which invited the notorious anti-Semite Gilad Atzmon to one of its classes, and assigned its students to read his hate-filled writings, has now backed out of an agreement to invite me to the school to talk to the students about the evils of anti-Semitism.

The headmaster of the Friends Seminary, a school which is supposed to be committed to honesty and integrity, has broken his solemn promise to me, and to members of its own community, to allow its students to hear both sides of an issue that really has only one side: namely, the illegitimacy of bringing hate-mongers into high school classrooms.

  1. I hope you're not surprised. The only reason to ever bring in a hate-monger (whether anti-Semite or other) to lecture is to spread hate.

  2. I am a friends seminary srudent. Atzmon entered the school premises at two separate times: once, he played saxophone and did not speak. The other time he visited friends seminary, he spoke about jazz, and handed out an essay on how to listen to jazz. There was nothing hate filled or remotely antisemitic about what he did and said on the friends seminary campus. I personally don't thi the friends should have invited him to the school at all, but it's important to notice that this article says several things that are blatantly wrong (the primary one being that anything antisemitic was said or expressed by ate on while at friends)
