Reb Elchonon answers Chazon Ish: Bottom up authority

  1. interesting - I tend to view it from another perspective, but the same idea of "botom up " authority.

    If one follows, Rav A, or Rav B, or group A or B, or Orhtodx or reform or conservative or Islam.. etc, it is one's own choice. There was shaigetz who was Haredi, and converted to Islam. he gives "authority" to whichever branch of Islam he follows. Ultimately, it is the individual who chooses, and he generally believes he made the right choice.
