Excerpts from the speech of HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch, shlita
We must protest because they are preparing a parade in the Holy City to proclaim that there is no Torah and no G‑d. This will bring, chas v’shalom, G‑d’s fierce anger down on His people and His inheritance as is stated in Devarim (32:16): They provoked Him to resentment with strange gods, with abominations they provoked Him to anger.
In fact their licentiousness is unlimited. Unfortunately due to our great sins they have brought almost a million goyim into this country and registered them as Jews or made them go through a fraudulent conversion program. They have viciously attacked those judges who haven’t agreed to their “conversions”. They violate Shabbos, G‑d have mercy.
However now they want to make a parade in the streets of Yerushalayim and to proclaim that there is no G‑d. All this to provoke Our Father in Heaven Who is the sole basis of our existence. They now want to actually enter into our midst and profane our neighborhoods.
We are disgraced. These times require us not to be silent. We must stop this danger to the Jewish People. Those who heed our call will receive blessing, Divine assistance in all matters and many pleasant things.
I believe that Rav Sternbuch, shlita, words speak the prayers in the hearts of countless Yirei Shamayim Jews all over the world.
ReplyDeleteAs we read and reread these statements with sincere hearts and tears in our eyes, we beg Hashem to have mercy on the Jewish people, to protect us and to redeem us speedily and in our days.

ReplyDeleteDo you really believe that *they* are doing this to provoke Our Father in Heaven? Do they believe in God that they think they are provoking him? Does Rav Sternbuch believe this? Do you? Or is this just rhetoric? Or am I misunderstanding this statement?

I don't think they are trying to provoke G-d, because I don't think they actually believe in G-d.
ReplyDeleteBut for the Jews who live in Jerusalem, this is a direct challenge because if they don't protest against this, then their silent acquiescence will make the case that even THEY don't believe in G-d.
This is what makes the parade a serious challenge to Judaism. This provokes G-d whether the paraders believe it will or not.

ReplyDeleteperhaps, but that does not seem (to me) to be what Rav Sternbuch is saying. The reason I am focusing on what may seem to be a nitpicking point is that I think that that this actually cuts to the heart of the matter -- misreading of others intentions. (that is, assuming that the intent must be the same as the intent would clearly have been had it been chareidim making a gay pride parade).
