US president claims to have almost finalized a ‘Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE’ with Iran; he’s also mused that Iran might ‘perhaps’ join the Abraham Accords. Wishful thinking cannot mask an unfolding catastrophe for Iranians, the free world and Israel
On February 28, the US and Israel opened a military campaign against Iran’s murderously rapacious Islamic extremist regime, aiming to destroy its nuclear weapons program, crush its ballistic missiles industry, halt its support for proxy terrorist armies Hezbollah and Hamas, put an end to its decades of global terrorism, and create the conditions for the Iranian masses to oust it from power, once and for all.
Apparently over-confident after their 12-day war last June battered Iranian military targets, eliminated numerous key nuclear scientists, and bombed three key underground nuclear facilities, however, the US and Israel, it has become evident, underestimated the regime’s tenacity, and failed to carry out even basic strategic steps to ensure the success of the operation.
To state the blindingly obvious: wishful thinking, disconnected from reality, cannot replace coherent policymaking and strategic planning.
Everyone focuses on Iran but forgets about China and Qatar which kept funnelling money and weapons to Iran to help it rebuild.
ReplyDeleteReported terms of Trump’s Iran deal would confirm the war as an epochal failure. Daf Hayomi today Chullin 30a § Rav Yehuda said that Rav said: One who cuts a siman in two or three places on the neck, and together the cuts constitute the requisite measure of slaughter, his slaughter is valid. Rav Yehuda adds: When I stated this halakha before Shmuel he said to me: We require a clear and obvious slaughter and in the case of cuts in two or three places there is no obvious slaughter. And Rabbi Shimon ben Lakish also holds that we require a clear and obvious slaughter, as Rabbi Shimon ben Lakish says: From where is it derived that slaughter must be clear and obvious? As it is stated: “Their tongue is a sharpened [shaḥut] arrow, it speaks deceit; one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lays wait for him” (Jeremiah 9:7). Just as an arrow clearly enters one part of the body, so too, the slaughter [sheḥita] must be clear and obvious.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Wow Jeremiah 9: Oh, to be in the desert, At an encampment for wayfarers! Oh, to leave my people, To go away from them-- For they are all adulterers. A band of rogues. 2They bend their tongues like bows; They are valorous in the land for treachery, not for honesty; They advance from evil to evil. And they do not heed Me--declares the Lord. 3Beware every man of his friend! Trust not even a brother! For every brother takes advantage, Every friend is base in his dealings. 4One man cheats the other, They will not speak truth; They have trained their tongues to speak falsely; They wear themselves out speaking iniquity. 5You dwell in the midst of deceit. In their deceit, they refuse to heed Me--declares the Lord. 6Assuredly, thus said the Lord of Hosts: Lo, I shall smelt and assay them—For what else can I do of my poor people? 7Their tongue is a sharpened arrow, They use their mouths to deceive. One speaks to his fellow in friendship, But lays an ambush for him in his heart.
So powerful so stirring. Is this true today? Yikes, Sunday, Israel parade in Manhattan, signs are Jews to fellow Jews are speaking one to another in friendship, but, in their hearts are laying an ambush. Their planning a surprise attack on Israel saying we are Jews and we love Israel while shouting NY Times blood libels and NYC’s mayor’s known view on Israel etc. I predict Trump will wait until Monday, the day after the parade for Israel in NYC, to bomb bomb bomb the ayatollahs/jihadists/Hezbollahs etc.
The Gamara is so beautiful. Kosher slaughtering must be swift and clean “Just as an arrow clearly enters one part of the body, so too, the slaughter [sheḥita] must be clear and obvious. ”
