A new Walla and Maariv poll found that many Israelis are unconvinced by claims of victory over Iran, with broad dissatisfaction over the war’s outcome and mixed views on political leadership.
The Israeli public is deeply divided over the question of victory in the war with Iran, according to a Walla and Maariv poll published on Thursday.
According to the poll, the public is not buying the “image of victory” when it comes to Iran. Despite the ceasefire, it appears that most Israelis do not feel a sense of victory in the direct campaign against Iran.
Forty-six percent of respondents believe that Israel and the United States did not win the war. Only 22% of the public believes that victory was achieved.
Sixty-three percent of all respondents said they were dissatisfied with the outcome of the war, compared with only 32% who expressed satisfaction.
Could people just please STOP WHINGING?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it's so annoying already.
Germany spent 6 years preparing for war. It spent 4 years undefeated. It took 2 years to defeat it and that was with the combined might of the West and the USSR all working together with the agreement that Germany would be completely destroyed.
Since the end of the Iran-Iraq war and certainly since the US conquest of Iraq, Iran has spent all its time and treasure building a force with which to destroy Israel. Decades of investing in military buildup and running multiple terrorist armies. Trillions spent! And after the US and Israel failed to completely destroy Iran in 35 days, OMG! We failed! How could we claim victory?
Seriously? Idiots.
First, it's a ceasefire, not an armistice. The US is still in the region. Israel is still bombing Hezbollah. Iran, meanwhile, has lost almost all its navy, has no air force or air defences, has lost multiple major industrial centres, has a severe water shortage it can no longer fix and a collapsed economy. Wow, they're the winners, aren't they.
Yes, victory is based on definitions. From the beginning the US and Israel made a mistake by making regime change the goal. It should've been "We'll smack them so hard they'll need years to recover and in the meantime hopefully the populace will finally rise up and take control." Meanwhile Iran's goal was "We're still here" and yes they are so of course they're claiming victory. It would be like me getting into the ring with a boxing champion and claiming victory because I'm still alive (albeit in a coma) at the end of the fight. Some victory.
Iran was convinced that when the time came they would easily wipe out Israel. Instead, their power has been wiped out. Who really won?
What is "WHINGING"?
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the above - but the word is "whingeing".
