Two infants died and 53 babies and toddlers were injured to varying degrees in an incident at an unlicensed Jerusalem daycare on Monday, prompting the arrest of three of the caregivers working there.
“We heard children screaming, we went in and checked and what did we find? That there were children in closets, in strollers, everywhere, hidden on top of one another with blankets,” he said.
Other medics and paramedics recounted similar information, telling news outlets that at least one child was found sleeping in a bathroom, close to the toilet.
The National Council for the Child, in a statement issued as the incident unfolded, demanded an immediate investigation by the Israel Police and Education Ministry into “not only the serious negligence, but the issue of the daycare’s operating license, as well.”
My first two thoughts on seeing the headline
ReplyDelete1) Oh no, I hope it wasn't a terrorist attack
2) It wasn't? Must be a Chareidi day care.
While the optics of a child sleeping on the floor near a toilet are not good, that was not the cause of death of the two babies. In fact no one even knows yet how these babies died.
ReplyDeleteActually the peliminary report is that they were dehydrated from sleeping near overheated air conditioners in poorly ventilated rooms.
DeleteIf anything, they were not "overheated air conditioners". They were air conditioners that were set on a high heat setting. That doesn't point to willful negligence. It shows that they wanted the children to be warm and not suffer from hypothermia.
DeleteKeep reading the details and you will see a setting that belongs in a horror movie.
DeleteChildren stuffed into cupboards or piled one on top of another. A closed area with the air conditioners running on full heat, blasting away. Children sleeping under toilets and in dirty corners. Conditions not fight for human beings but every day the parents dropped off their most precious possessions.
And do you recall why? Why does these family so depserately need daycare? Oh right, because the mother has to work so that the family can afford a dingy apartment 2 sizes too small for the family. And why does the mother have to work? Oh right, because the heiliger tatty sits on his tuchus all day in a kollel waving his thumb back and forth and sucking back coffee, telling himself that he's a talmid chacham. He's a deadbeat dad who doesn't serve the gifts God gave him but boy can he darshen an obscure gemara for you and isn't that what his job is?
Teenage boys attack buses, light fires and terrorize policemen. Babies die from neglect and abuse. And this is the Torah True Community(tm)!
For a minute I thought it was a report about the Iranian dungeons.
Delete.
This was warned about years ago. Remember the metzitzah b'peh-herpes scandal? Where major specialists were trotted out to contradict scientific fact on how it was spread? How studies were attacks and researchers defamed? And ultimately how the leadership shouted "Better our children die than we change a single shoelace!"
DeleteWe don’t need the Satan any more. GI has it all covered.
ReplyDeleteWho needs a Satan when you have the Chareidim?

Would you be happy if chas vshalom your little ones were packed in cupboards on top of each other?
DeleteThis was a house of satan and molech.
I have a good friend who used to be Chareidi but even while he was still nominally in that communty, he was a bit of an outcast. He worked for a living. He worked hard and did well. He had a decent car and a decent apartment. His children were clean and wore nice clothes. They went to the doctor and dentist on a regular basis. And for that he was treated like a pariah. He works! He looks after his family! Tumah! Tumah!
DeleteNo, my little ones would never be in a place like that hellhole because I'd work my tuchus off to afford a good place and I'd check to ensure it was quality.
