This is an alarming development about Michael/Michoel Hersh, whose name is now spelled as "Hirsch" obviously to somehow detach it from its past.
This new attempt at intrusion of Hersh/Hirsch into chesed and chinuch (Jewish charitable and educational organizations), as described in the latest Hamodia "Inyan" magazine, is like the fox that comes to "guard" the hens, like letting the "asylum" be run by one of its chief lunatics, or even more harshly, like opening the door to a trouble-maker to "assess" and "computerize" and use his "brilliance" and "experience" and "contacts" to "help" the unsuspecting vulnerable Jewish chinuch and chesed organizations and society.
One can only predict disaster based on the past history of this twisted and sick man condemned by his own family who he sued in court and attacked in public and who have denounced his brutality against his own children as was reported in the press and on many blogs, as well as in court hearings.
Only someone with the audacity and craziness of Michael/Michoel Hersh/Hirsch would come up with the cockamamie ideas that he is now to be the "savior" of Jews in need worldwide (clear evidence of a megalomaniacal mind and delusional personality) with his egoistical crazy ideas, now promoted in the respectable Hamodia (assuming they are unsuspecting).
BUT why did the reporter and editors not look into Hersh/Hirsch's past VERY public record in court papers and news sources that tell a horrible tale of abuse and persecution by him against his own children, family and against many rabbis and people that he put on an "enemies list" dragging them to court and waging wasteful legal fights so that he has proven utterly incapable and even criminal in handling his own affairs when he fought, alienated, abused and tormented his own kids, especially his tow oldest sons, the twin Sol and Isaac Hersh who ran away from him.
This was openly reported and shocked the Flatbush Charedi community and beyond that Hersh hired Mormon goons to kidnap his son Isaac in the middle of the night and had him sent as a captive to "Tranquility Bay" on the island of Jamaica where Isaac languished, not even his grandparents could track skinny 16 year old Isaac Hersh down, until he was rescued many months later.
After that Hersh began a huge court battle against any and all Jewish bloggers that reported about the imprisonment and rescue of the young 16 year old Isaac Hersh creating a huge furor in the Orthodox world.
Hersh was fired from his appointment at the head of the Hatzola in Flatbush, Brooklyn, but now he is finding new ways to creep in through the back door after he has been tossed out from the front.
People should be warned about this dangerous twisted person. Those who are working with him in the Jewish and Orthodox world should be warned and they should be asked to keep Michael/Michoel Hersh/Hirsh OUT of any and all areas of Jewish communal, educational and therapeutic life before he again indulges in mischief and creates damage that could be far worse than what he has already done!
why the negative comments about what seem to be genuine accomplishments in education and chesed? while his campaign against those who tried to help his sons was a disgusting chilul hashem , I don't see how that is relevant to the point of the article. thus is is not clear why you feel the author of the article needed to mention Hersh's treatment of his son and the subsequent lawsuit.
I tend to agree with the critics. This is similar to other efforts by the self-appointed "establishment" to rehabilitate all sorts of criminals. The message they are sending is that there is no need to teshuva for one's sins or even admit anything bad happened. The current president of the OU was caught selling treif veal 30 years ago and ignored the personal summons of R' Moshe Feinstein to beis din. Leib Pinter who stole millions and made tremendous chilul Hashem was given open access to almost any rosh yeshiva when he decided to bury Slifkin with distortions. Even a criminal like Mondrowitz who the Badatz has called a murderer is protected by Ger and some elements of the Agudah.
